Aging is a process of progressive loss of tissue and organ function, one of which is due to the accumulation of oxidative stress. Antioxidant therapy may be helpful in dealing with oxidative stress and preventing aging. Microgreens contain vitamins and phytochemicals that work as antioxidants and anti-inflammatory. The aim of this study was to identify the nutritional content in microgreens and their effects on aging. The methods of this article were an article review of the current literatures published in the last 10 years until 2021 that discusses the benefits of microgreens as anti-aging. The result of this study found that microgreens contain higher levels of various vitamins and phytochemicals than mature plants. Microgreens contain vitamins A, C, and E as well as polyphenols that have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. This may have the advantage of slowing down aging. As conclusion, vitamins and phytochemicals in microgreens may play a role in preventing aging, but research on the anti-aging benefits of microgreens is still very limited. Research is needed on the effect of vitamins, minerals, and phytochemicals on various microgreens on health and as anti-aging, especially in vivo.Unduhan
