Author Guidelines

Guideline for Contributors to Journal of Smart Technology and Engineering

General Information

The Journal of Smart Technology and Engineering is a peer reviewed scientific journal. It publishes original research articles, review papers, and case studies in two sections: (1) Smart Technology i.e. Informatic Engineering, Computer Systems, Computer Systems, and other pertinent fields related to Smart Technology, (2) Engineering related to Smart Technology i.e. Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering that applied research in the recent Technology. Articles must be the results of recently conducted research (not more than 5 years). They must  be original neither be previously nor simultaneously submitted in any journal nor published elsewhere except in a preliminary form. The journal supports open access for broader dissemination and impact.

Manuscript Submission

Language

  • All manuscripts must be written in English.
  • Authors are responsible for ensuring that the language is clear and grammatically correct. Poorly written papers may be rejected without review.

Manuscript Structure

An acceptable manuscript will meet the following general criteria: it reports a worthwhile contribution to civil engineering, methodology is well and clearly explained with sufficient details. Results and discussion are supported by sufficient scope data, manuscripts is concise, well written, and understandable.  Conclusion summarized the results and showed specific findings.

1. Title

The title should reflect issues and focus of smart technology and/or engineering or any other impacts.

2. Authors

Manuscript has main author and co-authors with full name of both author and co-authors (no abbreviation).  The author should indicate the affiliation institute with clear mail address and email.

3. Abstract

The abstract comes after title and author names in the first page of manuscript. Abstract must be integrated and independent which is consisted of introduction and purpose, methods, results, conclusion and suggestion. References and non-standard or uncommon abbreviations should be avoided. Abstract contained not more than 200 words.

4. Keywords

The keywords should avoid general and plural terms and multiple concepts. Do not use words or terms in the title as keywords. These keywords will be used for indexing purposes. Keywords should not less than 3 words or phrases in alphabetical order.

5. Introduction

State the objectives of the work and provide an adequate background. Avoid a detailed literature survey or a summary of the results. Explain how to address the problem and clearly state the aims of the study.

6. Methods

It should be mentioned the period and place of research. All materials and methods that used such numerical for analysis, laboratory and experimental design must be stated clearly and briefly. The unit measurement used SI (International Standard Unit) and symbols.  Use slash instead of exponent (e.g. kN/m). Use words when unit of measure is not involved (e.g.man per area). In the case of range of values, indicate the unit at the end of the range (e.g. 10-15 kN/m2). Avoid beginning a sentence with a symbol. Use percent symbol (%) with figures only (e.g. 5%), and spell it out (percent) with written numbers.

7. Results & Discussions

Results presented should be consistent with the objectives of the study. Discussion should be done for integration purposes, i.e. within the results of the study or with reference to other studies.

 8. Conclusions

Conclusion should include the summary and implications of major findings of the study. Suggestion can be included or be stated under the heading “Suggestion”;

7. Acknowledgement (if applicable)

Authors may include an Acknowledgment section to recognize contributions that do not meet the criteria for authorship but still played a significant role in the development of the manuscript. This may include funding sources, institutional or  departmental support, technical or editorial assistance, individuals who contributed to data collection, software tools, or proofreading.

8. References

  • All references mentioned in the list should be cited in the text (and vice versa)
  • Article should use at least 10 recent references (no more than 10 years)
  • This journal encourages you to cite from primary references such as: textbooks and journals (at least 80%)
  • Please refrain using internet websites as references
  • Unpublished data and personal communication should not be included as literature citations
  • “In Press” articles that have been accepted for publication may be cited in references and should indicate the publication date
  • Reference list should follow the standard reference style of this journal (IEEE style, IEEE Reference Style Guide for Authors)
  • Reference Manager (Mendeley, Crossref, Endnote, etc.) is mandatory

9. Writing Rules

  • The article should be composed in standard Microsoft Word (.docx) format, pages must comply as the size of A4 paper and the text flows in single (one) column layout. Minimum number of pages are 10-20 or minimum number of 3000 words. Text content in the main part of article all typed in Times New Roman font set with size of 12pt, and line spacing of 1.5. Text content paragraphs are distributed evenly left and right between margins ('justified' alignment).
  • All heading indicating the main part of article (such as "Introduction") are typed in bold with center alignment within the single column layout, using Times New Roman font set and size of 14pt, while all subheadings (if needed) are typed in bold with left alignment, using Times New Roman font set and size of 12pt.

10. Plagiarism Policy

All submissions are checked for plagiarism. The journal adheres to a strict zero-tolerance policy. Similarity index should be below 20%, excluding references and quotes.

11. Peer Review Process

All manuscripts undergo double-blind peer review. Reviewers are selected based on subject expertise.

12. Author Fee (Article Processing Charge - APC):

The Journal of Smart Technology and Engineering applies an Article Processing Charge (APC) to support the editorial process, manuscript management, peer-review, and open-access publication.
APC Amount:
IDR 200.000
The APC is only charged after the manuscript is accepted for publication. There are no charges during the submission or peer-review stages.
