About the Journal
Focus and Scope
Transdisciplinary Humanities Research on Language, Literature, and Digital Cultures (THREADS) is a national academic journal issued biannually in April and October by the Bachelor's Programme in English at Universitas Kristen Maranatha. THREADS is an open-access, peer-reviewed journal that explores the dynamic intersections between English language, literary studies, and emerging digital cultures. Embracing a transdisciplinary approach, the journal provides a platform for scholars, educators, and practitioners to investigate how human expression, communication, and cultural practices evolve across traditional and digital media.
Key focus areas include, but are not limited to:
- Language and identity in digital contexts
- Literary interpretation in the age of AI and new media
- Digital storytelling, multimodality, and transmedia narratives
- Cultural studies and virtual communities
- The impact of technology on linguistic change, translation, or authorship
- Teaching and learning literature and English language in digital environments
- Intercultural and cross-linguistic perspectives in the digital age
- Collaborative research crossing education technology, cultural studies, and creative industries
The journal welcomes:
- Research Articles presenting original empirical or theoretical studies
- Review Articles synthesizing developments in one or more focus areas
- Methodological Reports detailing new digital tools, corpora, or pedagogical interventions
- Practitioner Perspectives reflecting on classroom implementation, community outreach, or media practice
Peer Review Process
To uphold the quality and academic integrity of its publications, each submission undergoes the following review process:
- Initial Screening: Editors assess whether the submission adheres to the journal's formatting and writing standards.
- Plagiarism Check: If approved during the initial review, manuscripts are checked for originality using Turnitin. The similarity score must not exceed 15%.
- Peer Review: Manuscripts that pass the plagiarism check proceed to double-blind peer review by two reviewers—neither the authors nor the reviewers are aware of each other’s identities. Reviewers may be part of the Editorial Board or invited experts.
- Timeline: Editorial decisions are generally provided within 8 to 16 weeks of submission. Each reviewer is expected to complete their review within one month.
Publication Schedule
THREADS is published twice a year—in April and October
