Post-Publication Discussion

SONDE (Sound of Dentistry) values post-publication discussion as a key component in ensuring the accuracy, transparency, and integrity of the scholarly record. We encourage readers, researchers, authors, and other members of the academic community to provide constructive comments, questions, corrections, or concerns about articles published in SONDE.

Post-publication discussions play a vital role in critically evaluating and improving the scholarly record. These discussions can address various aspects of a published article, such as methodology, data analysis, interpretation, findings, and more. Comments should be evidence-based, academically relevant, and presented professionally and respectfully. Personal attacks, discriminatory statements, promotional content, and unsupported allegations are strictly prohibited.

Submission of Comments

Substantive comments or concerns regarding a published article can be submitted to the editorial office via the journal's official communication channels: https://journal.maranatha.edu/index.php/sod/about/contact

When submitting a comment, please identify the article by its title and DOI or URL, explain the specific issue, and provide any relevant evidence or references. Contributors must disclose any relationships or interests that could reasonably affect their comments. Confidential or personally identifiable information must not be disclosed without proper justification.

Editorial Assessment

The editorial office will evaluate comments based on their relevance, clarity, scholarly merit, supporting evidence, and adherence to publication ethics. If appropriate, the responsible editor may seek independent expert advice and/or invite the original authors to respond.

Author Responses

Authors may be invited to respond to substantive comments concerning their work. These responses should directly address the issues raised and provide evidence where necessary. Not responding does not prevent the journal from considering a substantiated concern or taking appropriate action.

Publication of Discussions

After an editorial assessment, the journal may publish a scholarly comment, author response, editorial clarification, or another relevant notice. If a post-publication discussion reveals a minor error that does not affect the validity or interpretation of the research, the journal may issue a Correction or another suitable notice.

Concerns Requiring Investigation

If substantial concerns arise about the reliability, integrity, or validity of a published article, the journal may conduct an investigation and, if necessary, publish an Expression of Concern or a Retraction in accordance with applicable publication ethics principles and the guidelines set forth by The Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
